Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and Eliot Fagnon ("we", "us"), the operator of Hangar. By buying, downloading, or using Hangar or this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Hangar.

2. What Hangar is

Hangar is a desktop application for macOS and Windows that processes files on your own computer, together with this website. Your use of the software itself is also governed by the License, and your data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

3. Eligibility

You must be able to form a binding contract to buy Hangar. If you buy on behalf of a company or other organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these terms for it.

4. Buying a license

Hangar is a one-time purchase. Prices are shown on the pricing section and may change over time, though a change never affects a license you have already bought. Payment is taken by our payment processor, Polar and Chariow. Depending on where you are, tax may be added at checkout. Once your payment is complete, we deliver your license key to the email address you provide.

5. Refunds

If Hangar is not right for you, email eliot@hangar.tools within 30 days of your purchase and we will refund you. We may ask why, so we can improve, but a refund within this window does not depend on your answer.

6. Your license to use Hangar

What you may and may not do with the software is set out in the License, which forms part of these terms. In short, your purchase lets you install and use Hangar on the number of devices included in your plan, for your own personal or business work.

7. Updates and changes to the app

We may improve, change, or remove features of Hangar over time, and we may release updates. We will not knowingly make a change that removes the core ability of a tool you paid for, but we cannot promise that any single feature will remain exactly as it is forever.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Hangar to:

• break the law or infringe anyone else's rights, including copyright;
• process content you do not have the right to process;
• resell, redistribute, or sublicense the software itself; or
• work around the license, device limits, or any security measure.

You are responsible for the files you process and for the outputs you create and share.

9. Your files stay yours

Hangar processes your files on your own machine. We do not access them, and we claim no rights over them or over anything you make with the app. What you create with Hangar is entirely yours.

10. Our intellectual property

Hangar, including the software, the name, the logo, and this website, is owned by us and protected by intellectual-property law. Buying a license gives you the right to use the app, not ownership of it. Hangar also includes third-party open-source software, which is provided under its own licenses as noted within the app.

11. No warranty

Hangar is provided "as is" and "as available". We do everything we reasonably can to make it work well, but we do not warrant that it will be free of errors or fit for a particular purpose. You are responsible for keeping your own backups of important files before processing them.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim relating to Hangar is limited to the amount you paid for your license. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost data, lost profit, or lost time. Some places do not allow these limits, in which case they apply to you only as far as the law permits.

13. Termination

If you break these terms or the License, your right to use Hangar ends, and you must stop using it and remove it from your devices. Sections that by their nature should survive, such as ownership, disclaimers, and limits of liability, continue after termination.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of the page. If you keep using Hangar after a change, you accept the updated terms.

15. Governing law and disputes

If something goes wrong, please email us first and we will do our best to put it right quickly and fairly. You keep every consumer right and protection of the country where you live, and nothing in these terms takes those away. Any dispute that cannot be resolved directly will be handled under the applicable law, including the consumer-protection law of your country of residence.
