New to Hangar? How to run a tool, step by step
Choose the file size
Length, width and frame rate do most of the work on size. The file size preset decides how many colors the GIF keeps.
The smoothest color, a larger file.
Best for product shots and soft gradients.
Clean color at a sensible size.
Best for most clips.
Fewer colors, the lightest file.
Best for chat, email and docs, where size limits bite.

The alternative
Online GIF makers are quick for one short clip. They get slower, and less private, as the files grow.
Who uses it
Turn a short screen recording of a new feature into a GIF for a changelog or a help article.
A looping product GIF plays in many inboxes where a video would not.
Hangar for marketers and content teamsA five-second GIF of the right click answers a ticket faster than written steps.
One app, one payment
The same app trims, converts, compresses and captions video and audio, and does the same kind of work for PDFs and images. One payment covers every tool.
Save it as a chain
Speed up a long screen recording. Then turn the best moment into a GIF and give the file a clean name.
How chains workEvery tool is free for 3 days, with no account and no card. After that, Hangar is a one-time payment from $45, with updates for the version you buy. There is no subscription.

No. GIFs never carry audio. If you need sound, cut a short MP4 with Trim video instead.
Yes. By default only the first 5 seconds become the GIF. Change that length in the panel, or set a start and end for any clip in the GIF Studio.
Mostly the length, the width, and the frame rate. A shorter clip, a smaller width, and a lower frame rate make a much smaller GIF, and the Small preset helps too.
By default it loops forever. You can also have it play once or choose 3×.
No. Your files are processed on your computer and never sent anywhere. Hangar sends anonymous usage counts to improve the app, never file names or contents, and you can turn that off in Settings.
