How to merge audio files on Mac or Windows

Each mark is a moment in the recording above. Pick one to play it from there.

Merge audio in three steps

  1. Add the tracks in order

MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, AIFF and more. The order you add them is the starting order.

  2. Arrange them in the Merge Studio

In Concatenate, drag tracks to reorder and tune the crossfade at each seam. In Mix, slide each track to its start time and set its volume.

  3. Export one file

Save as MP3, AAC, WAV or Opus, under the name you choose.

Choose how they combine

Back to back, or all at once.

Concatenate plays files one after another, with a crossfade at each seam if you want one. Mix plays them together, each with its own start time and volume, and the result can follow the longest, first or shortest track.

  • Concatenate

    Start here

    One track, file after file.

Best for episodes built from an intro, segments and an outro.

  • Mix

    Tracks layered on one timeline.

Best for a voiceover over music, or a jingle under a greeting.

  • Crossfades

Smooth joins from 0 to 5 seconds, 0.5 by default.

Best for music sets and segments that should flow into each other.

Questions

Before you download

More answers in the help center.

Is it really free?

Every tool is free for 3 days, with no account and no card. After that, Hangar is a one-time payment from $45, with updates for the version you buy. There is no subscription.

Can I change the order after adding files?

Yes. In Concatenate mode, drag tracks into a new order in the Merge Studio. Reordering resets any per-seam crossfades you set.

Can I merge files in different formats?

Yes. MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC and the rest can go into the same merge, and the result comes out in the format you pick.

What is the difference between Concatenate and Mix?

Concatenate plays files one after another. Mix overlays them so they play at the same time, with separate timing and volume controls.

Can I add a crossfade between files?

Yes. Set one default crossfade for every seam from 0 to 5 seconds, then adjust individual seams in the Merge Studio.

Which output formats are available?

MP3, AAC, WAV, and Opus. WAV is lossless; the other formats offer Low, Medium, and High quality choices.

Does anything get uploaded?

No. Your files are processed on your computer and never sent anywhere. Hangar sends anonymous usage counts to improve the app, never file names or contents, and you can turn that off in Settings.

Does one license cover Mac and Windows?

Yes. A license works on any mix of Mac and Windows computers. Solo covers 1 computer, Crew 3 and Fleet 10.
