Signed, nothing else touched

No printer, no scanner, no upload.

Print, sign and scan turns every page into a picture. A signing website needs the contract on its servers. Hangar puts your signature on the page and leaves everything else as it was.

Measured on the contract in the recording. The text stays text.

It places a picture of your signature, not a certificate-based digital signature. Check what the person you send it to accepts.

The alternative

Why not use Acrobat or an e-signature service?

For a certified digital signature, or to send a document out for others to sign and track it, use an e-signature service. For “sign and return”, a picture of your signature is what most people need.

How it works

How to sign a PDF on Mac or Windows

  1. Save your signature once

Draw it, type your name, or upload a scan. Hangar keeps it on this computer for every PDF after.

  2. Sign the batch or place by hand

Pick the signature, then First, Last, All or one page number, and one of nine spots. When the signature line moves from file to file, drag it into place in the Sign Studio.

  3. Get signed copies

Each copy is saved with -signed in its name. The page underneath is not changed, and your original stays where it was.

New to Hangar? How to run a tool, step by step

Choose your signature

Draw it, type it or upload it. Then reuse it.

However you make it, the signature is saved on this computer and works on any PDF. Save your initials as a second one, so you can put them on every page and your full signature on the last.

  • Draw

Sign with your trackpad, mouse or touchscreen.

Best for a signature that looks like your own hand.

  • Type

Your name in a handwriting-style font.

Best when you have no trackpad or touchscreen at hand.

  • Upload

A photo or scan of your real signature.

Best as a transparent PNG, so no white box shows on the line.

Questions

Before you download

More answers in the help center.

Is it really free?

Every tool is free for 3 days, with no account and no card. After that, Hangar is a one-time payment from $45, with updates for the version you buy. There is no subscription.

Is this a digital signature?

No. It places a picture of your signature, like signing a printout and scanning it. PDF readers will not show the file as digitally signed, so check what the person you send it to accepts.

Where is my saved signature kept?

Only on this computer, in Hangar’s own app folder. It is never uploaded or synced, and you can delete it at any time.

Can I sign more than one page?

Yes. In the panel, choose All to put the same signature on every page, or place as many as you like on any pages in the Studio.

Does signing change the original content?

No. Each signature is placed as an overlay, so the document underneath is left exactly as it was.

Can I use my own signature?

Yes. Draw it, type it, or upload an image once. It is saved on your computer and you can reuse it on any PDF.

Does anything get uploaded?

No. Your files are processed on your computer and never sent anywhere. Hangar sends anonymous usage counts to improve the app, never file names or contents, and you can turn that off in Settings.

Does one license cover Mac and Windows?

Yes. A license works on any mix of Mac and Windows computers. Solo covers 1 computer, Crew 3 and Fleet 10.
