New to Hangar? How to run a tool, step by step

Choose how to bundle

One PDF each, in groups, or all together.

The queue order is the page order. With Every N or All in one, you name the PDFs, and several files are numbered so they sort in order.

  • One each

    Start here

A one-page PDF per image, named after it.

Best for separate receipts and single documents.

  • Every N

A new PDF after a set number of images.

Best for a stack of scans that holds several documents of equal length.

  • All in one

Every image as a page of a single PDF.

Best for a contract, a portfolio or a photo report.

The alternative

Why not use Preview or Print to PDF?

Your computer can already save images as a PDF for free. What it makes is a stack of pictures, without searchable text or tidy grouping.

Questions

Before you download

More answers in the help center.

Is it really free?

Every tool is free for 3 days, with no account and no card. After that, Hangar is a one-time payment from $45, with updates for the version you buy. There is no subscription.

Will my photos be cropped or stretched?

No. With Auto, each page takes the shape of its image. With A4 or Letter, large images are scaled down to fit and small ones keep their size.

What happens if one image cannot be read?

Only the PDF that image belongs to is skipped, with the reason shown. The other PDFs in the run are still made.

Are the PDFs searchable?

Yes. Hangar reads the text on each image and adds it to the page, so you can search and copy from the PDF. Choose the language of the text for the best result.

Can I put many images in one PDF?

Yes. Choose All in one for a single PDF in queue order, or Every N to start a new PDF after a set number of images.

Is there a size limit on the images?

Images over 80 megapixels are rejected. Shrink them first with Resize images. An animated GIF or WebP is treated as a single still frame.

Does anything get uploaded?

No. Your files are processed on your computer and never sent anywhere. Hangar sends anonymous usage counts to improve the app, never file names or contents, and you can turn that off in Settings.

Does one license cover Mac and Windows?

Yes. A license works on any mix of Mac and Windows computers. Solo covers 1 computer, Crew 3 and Fleet 10.
