macOS and Windows. Your files stay on your computer.

Add an intro and outro to videos on Mac or PC. No cloud.

Save your intro, a sponsor or break clip and your outro once, then add them to every new recording in one run. Hangar finds the first pause for the middle clip and keeps your video size and frame rate. Nothing leaves your computer.

How it works

How to add an intro and outro to a video on Mac or Windows

  1. Drop one video or a batch

MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI and more.

  2. Choose your clips

Pick a saved clip for the start, the first pause and the end, or save a new one. One clip is enough.

  3. Get finished MP4s

Each video is saved as name-clips.mp4, with a cut or a short dissolve at every join.

Where the clips go

An intro, a mid-roll and an outro. Use one or all three.

Each place takes one saved clip. The middle clip goes into the first pause of half a second or more after the time you set, so it lands in a gap in speech.

  • At the start

Your intro before the first frame.

Best for channel and podcast openers.

  • In the first pause

A clip in the first gap in speech after the time you set.

Best for sponsor reads and breaks.

  • At the end

Your outro after the last frame.

Best for a call to subscribe, book or buy.

The alternative

Why not add them in a video editor?

A video editor gives you full control, which matters for one important video. For the same intro and outro on every episode, dragging clips onto a timeline each time is slow.

Questions

Before you download

More answers in the help center.

Is it really free?

Every tool is free for 3 days, with no account and no card. After that, Hangar is a one-time payment from $45, with updates for the version you buy. There is no subscription.

Where are my saved clips kept?

Hangar copies each clip you save into its own folder on your computer, so it keeps working if you move the original. Remove a clip from the list to delete that copy.

Do clips of a different shape work?

Yes. A vertical clip in a landscape video is fitted with a blurred fill, letterbox bars or a crop, as you choose.

Do I need to add all three clips?

No. Choose at least one clip, at the start, in the first pause or at the end, and leave the others empty.

What if a video has no pause?

That file fails with a message that no pause was found after the time you set, and nothing is inserted. Set an earlier time or another sensitivity and run it again.

What format is the result?

An MP4 with the same size and frame rate as your recording. Macs save H.264 video. On a PC without a supported hardware encoder, the video is saved as AV1.

Does anything get uploaded?

No. Your files are processed on your computer and never sent anywhere. Hangar sends anonymous usage counts to improve the app, never file names or contents, and you can turn that off in Settings.

Does one license cover Mac and Windows?

Yes. A license works on any mix of Mac and Windows computers. Solo covers 1 computer, Crew 3 and Fleet 10.
