How it works
Every file gets the same settings, and each one gets its own total.
Choose Number only, With total, Page label or Label + total, or write your own with {n} and {total}. Click one of nine squares to place it.
Each copy is saved with -numbered in its name. The numbers are real text, so they stay sharp at any zoom and can be searched.
New to Hangar? How to run a tool, step by step
Choose the format
Pick a ready-made format or write your own. Totals are worked out for each PDF, and the style can be Arabic, Roman numerals or letters.
A plain 3, bottom center by default.
Best for reports and everyday documents.
Page 3 of 10 on every page.
Best for handouts and forms where a missing page matters.
Labels like NW-000001, with zero padding.
Best for legal productions and evidence sets.
Every setting, explained in the Page numbers guide Format · Style · Position · Start at · Skip cover page
The alternative
An online tool can number a short handout. Legal sets and confidential reports are where uploading gets harder to justify.

Who uses it
Add a prefix and six-digit numbers to every page of a document set.
Number client reports and decks, with the cover page left blank.
Hangar for agencies and studiosAdd Page 3 of 10 so everyone finds the page you are talking about.
One app, one payment
The same app merges, splits, signs, redacts and reads scanned PDFs, and does the same kind of work for images, video and audio. One payment covers every tool.
Save it as a chain
Every PDF you add gets numbered, compressed and locked with a password, ready to send.
How chains workEvery tool is free for 3 days, with no account and no card. After that, Hangar is a one-time payment from $45, with updates for the version you buy. There is no subscription.

No. Existing numbers are not removed, so pick a different position or number a version of the document without them.
Yes. They are added as real text, so they stay sharp at any zoom and can be searched and copied.
Yes. Turn on Skip cover page and numbering starts on page two, with the count beginning at your Start at number.
Yes, for Bates-style labels. Add a prefix such as ABC- and zero-pad the number to a fixed width. Each PDF is numbered from your Start at value, so to continue the count across several files, run them one at a time and change Start at.
No. Your files are processed on your computer and never sent anywhere. Hangar sends anonymous usage counts to improve the app, never file names or contents, and you can turn that off in Settings.
Yes. A license works on any mix of Mac and Windows computers. Solo covers 1 computer, Crew 3 and Fleet 10.
Then pay once, from $45, for every tool and the updates for your version. No subscription. 30-day refund.See plans
